Hi all and Happy New Year. Can anyone recommend a nice Dog Friendly site near a beach in Northumberland?

We have just turned 50 yrs of age (last year), and see ourselves as young-ish people looking for stunning scenery, wildlife, dog walks and a nice olde worlde real ale pub for that classic pint.

Had a look on the camp site search but we can't make up our minds whether to go to an adult only site for the peace an quiet or risk it and go to non adult only sites?

We have 2 x dogs (Shih Tzu's) who just love running around on the beach or going on a long walk. we tend to go to sites where the pitches are quite big if possible. If it has a pub that allows dogs in that would be a bonus.

All suggestions welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Chris and Paula

Everyone here I think will mention the Seahouses (area).

Can't believe I live in Northumberland, and can't point you in a good direction...

We were on the Beadnell Bay C&CC site last year and that is right opposite the beach.

We stayed at Dunstan Hill last year.
Very well kept site and dog friendly too.
About 20 minutes walk through woods and fields to the beautiful spacious Embleton Bay.

Thanks very much GCMS2012, Jo Parker, and Mo and Tel I'll have a look at your suggestions and get something booked. Can't wait to get going again this year.

Never been to Northumberland and saw whatshisname from soldier soldier on about it and thought wow that looks nice.

Thanks again.

Robson Green has said it was the best programme he has ever made. A beautiful place but needs a couple of weeks at least. There are so many camp sites of all types you're spoilt for choice. We never went away for summer holidays when I was young (50+ years ago) but just went on 'away days' in Northumberland and we were never bored with just nature for entertainment.

For wee dogs with short legs like these, the Dunstan Hill site may not work so well - they'll be done in before they get to the beach, especially if it's been raining and the path round the field is muddy. I think they'd have to be carried back. But you can drive down the dead-end road, park and walk over the golf course to the beach (difficult to do the 3-point turn with a bigger motorhome). You may need a coin purse, as many beaches are backed by car parks where you have to buy a ticket in season. The beach at Bamburgh is superb, but I can't think of a nice site nearby.

2024 = 20 sites / 41 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

Many thanks Marilyn51 and Fiona W, i think we've narrowed it down to a place called Beadnall Bay, we've been looking for the past few days now and it sounds basic but if we can get a pitch right on the beach between the sand dunes it would be just fantastic.

Two weeks in Northumberland. Can't wait.   Hope the weather is kind to us.

Many thanks everyone for looking and for taking the time to get back to us..

Happy camping/caravanning.

We live in Morpeth, Northumberland and often head up the coast to Beadnell. We found a fantastic County Farm Estate in Beadnell, the beach is only across the road, beautiful place and very reasonable the Mellor family that run it are lovely. You can google it, Anstead Farm Beadnell, beautiful!
