We are looking for a fairly quiet site for a family holiday with young kids. We tried Trevornick last year but were packed in and surrounded by beer swilling, loud mouthed, tattooed, shaved headed, white van driving chavs. Sorry if that sounds snobby but 1 night we had a bloke puke up the side of our caravan then his mate threatened to tip our caravan over......nice! Anyways, we love the Crantock area and also the area just south of Padstow around Constantine. Looking for a site kid friendly, decent sized pitches, where we aren't likely to be threatened by idiots. Decent showers, little shop, little playground would be ideal. Walking distance to beach a Brucey bonus but not that bothered. Am I right in thinking the further from Newquay the better? So maybe Constantine/Harlyn area better? Any thoughts really appreciated....
Cheers

Not quite in your search area but Tollgate Farm Perranporth is a small family friendly site. Has onsite takeaway (high season), shop, small play area and small animal petting area. Showers are immaculate. You can walk over the dunes to the beach or walk via the road (steep hill). Close to Perranporth (distant sea views from site).
Magic Cove, Mawgan Porth - very small site very close to the beach. No shop on site but 350 yard walk from the site you will find shop supplying newspapers, pitch & put, pub/restaurant, surf school. Butcher calls at site. (this site gets booked very quickly!)
I don't know anywhere else around Harlyn or Newquay that isn't big and commercial to be honest and we visit Cornwall nearly every other weekend - maybe someone else will suggest.
I am sure the site you were on was actually friendly enough. It was more the type of customer it was attracting - presumably high season school holidays - that created the problem. A problem suffered by many large sites close to major holiday resorts and with pool, bar, entertainment etc.
Not in your area but we like Tregarton park. Large set pitches so no cramming, they do have a pool but not close to a large resort. Instead there are small and numerous sandy beaches close by. tregarton park
We liked Gunvenna but that was a few years ago, it's a bit north of Padstow, not far from Polzeath, but you need to drive everywhere. It has a small indoor pool and a playpark.

Thanks Chelsea, will have a look. Have been looking at Padstow Touring Park. Not cheap but maybe what we're looking for?
We spent New Year at Padstow Touring Park and it's a great site. OK we've only ever done it out of season but never had any problems with anyone there. The smallest/oldest toilet/shower block is just being rebuilt/extended and should be lovely. Great facilities and nice people.
Check out our newly updated blog. There are some pictures of the site on there and the surrounding area over the New Year.

Thanks for all the advice. We LOVED the look of Trewan Hall. Just a shame it's 10 miles from the beaches :( Next choice was nearly Padstow Touring. I'd have been happy with this but the wife just loves Crantock Beach with the Gannel for the kids. I know she'd have grumbled all holiday if we didn't pick somewhere close :) So in the end we've gone for somewhere with mixed reviews but mainly good....... Trebellan. Thing that swayed it was 1 of the poor reviews mentioned the fun police came knocking before midnight and asked them to quieten down :D Annoyed them but sounds perfect for us. Fingers crossed we get the weather.
Have a look at Budemeadows-we used it loads when the kids were small.Couple of minutes drive from Widemouth Bay beach, and only a few minutes fro Bude town.Very friendly site and lovely and clean. There's an outdoor pool and a playground plus a little shop and games room. We'd still be going if the kids hadn't grown up!

We can also recommend Gunvenna. Went there last year in a tent and are going back this year in our caravan. The site is really well kept, friendly staff and in a great location for beaches, villages etc. Would recommend it anytime
