Hi all,

Apologies if it's annoying when someone joins up just to ask a question - but i'm doing it with the best intentions of annoying as few people (campers) as possible.

I'm looking for a good campsite for a stag do - we're a well behaved group of thirty somethings so i'm not anticipating any alcohol induced idiocy, however it is a stag do and we'll be staying up late drinking and no doubt talking & laughing too loud to be camped 10 feet away from someone that's planning on getting up at a semi reasonable hour.

This might be asking a bit too much, but i'd like to stay away from somewhere that specifically targets stag do's because of the type of crowd that it might attract :/

We're coming from all 4 corners of the country so a Midlands(ish) location is ideal - but it's not a deal breaker.

Basically something that roughly fits the following criteria -
Allows campfires (it'll be in a raised pit).
As spread out as possible, so that we can be far enough away from other people to speak at a reasonable volume late at night.
Won't turn us down flat for being on a stag do.
Being walking distance from a real ale pub would be a bonus.
That's about it.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

you would maybe be best finding a site which advertises a rally field - sites usually don't allow same sex groups because the perception is that you'll all be noisy. Just get a name for your group and ask if you can stay a couple of nights
good luck
friends have been here and say they take groups:

I'm fairly sure that strippers don't visit campsites, so I can't see her being too upset about it!

Shell island is only place I can think of and its outside of your preferred area, they do have rules but we've seen all manner of groups getting together. Head over to dunes area and you will find as much space as you want. They do have a pub onsite and a shop, real ale may be pushing it but I've never been in it. We go as a group of 4+ families every year.

It will depend a lot on what time of the year you are thinking of.
I agree with Poppy9560..you should look at the area you want and phone around. Do a Camp Site Search on here to give you an idea whats out there.

Is my invite in the post..lol

Akebar Park near Leyburn, North Yorkshire should be a fantastic site but due to bad ownership leaves a kot to be desired. However, I'm sure it would fit your needs perfectly, including a decent pub on site, football area and golf course. Have a look, it may be what you're looking for. They don't allow any reviews but I would still say check out their web site.

Here it belongs to my brother in law, it is a c.l. site for caravans but he does take tents and you could probably have the place to yourself if you tell him what you want it for.
He has a huge fire pit which I'm sure he will let you use he has a large barbque there too.
It has toilets no electric we have used a generator in the past.

We have been there several times as a group and it is perfect. Plus Batemans Brewery nearby with real pub.

Hi Mojo (May I call you that?)
Welcome to this wonderful, helpful forum of ours.

I've just googled "CAMP SITE IN THE MIDLANDS SUITABLE FOR A STAG DO", for the weekend you are looking at, and all it came up with was this...

Yes... I was shocked too!

Looks like you are out of luck!

You could try Lickhill Manor in Stourport. They have a huge rally field, so you could get well out of the way from the main site - pub is about 10-15 minutes walk away.

Hi :)

So this isnt in the area you preferred but thought id share it with you as sounds suitable!! its a place called osmington mills corner campsite and its in weymouth, dorset.
http://www.osmingtoncampsite.co.uk/index.html

Basically its a basic campsite with toilets showerblock and local shop...but, its dirt cheap only charging per pitch per night rather than paying extra per person etc....any tent any size. Its £13 a night or £83 a week. About a 20min walk is the lovely old pub called the smugglers in, where im sure you'll find good ales.
http://smugglersinnosmingtonmills.co.uk/

And 5min walk is the sunray pub which does a fab buffae sunday roast for about 6.99

http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/11/11816/Sunray_at_Osmington/Osmington

The campsite is situated next to a bus stop and weymouth bay is about 10mins away.

The campsite is just fields, campfires are allowed raised and many are up around their fires til late...we go every yr and find as long as we're respectful and not to noisy no one complains...i have seen (and heard) crowds of male/female groups before so its certainly something the campsite is used to.

Further away than you hoped but if you all fancied a road trip I thought it'd be worth a mention :) have fun!
Laura
