Morning campers. I have spent the last few weeks going through the campsite search and now seem to be going round in circles. I'm after a site (that accepts tents) either in Yorkshire, The Lakes or even Northumberland that has a river either on site or very close by. We have stayed at Sleningford Watermill and Knight Stainforth before and loved these sites so something similar would be ideal.
Hopefully you experienced lot will be able to come up with a few suggestions. Look forward to hearing them

Hi, have a look at Holme Open Farm, Sedbergh. We have a static on there but there is a separate field for tents, although if you want ehu you can still pitch on caravan field. Although there are a few, about 12 statics, its still a very quiet and basic site. Its right on the river, loads of space, and you can have camp fires. Its also in the middle of Lakes and Yorkshire dales.
Riverside at Wooler, Northumberland is a nice site with a stream running through it. Its within walking distance of the town and its many pubs and places to eat, it also has a small pub/club on site. We have visited here twice and love it, its a static site with a small-medium sized touring are. Although it is a commercialised site its nothing like the Haven type (not knocking these) but not everyone's cup of tea. I have stayed at Slenningford and liked it there. Riverside touring area isn`t as big.

Boroughbridge Camping and Caravanning club site is lovely and right on the River Ure, the town is lovely, nice walks, pubs, shops, restaurants and takeaway and a Morrisons close by, also near to Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon, The Yks dales, York for days out. J x
If you like quiet sites next to a river then try park house at keld in yorkshire dales, guyzance in northumberland and leekworth in middleton teesdale. All stunning locations.
