I am looking to take my two young kids (7 & 5) camping this spring and want to start off close to home. I have taken one away on his own for a few days and we managed fine, but concerned about the whole going to toilet, showering issue with the kids around. I am not willing to leave them out of sight whilst i do what i need to.

Does anybody know of a decent Derbyshire / Notts campsite with good family facilities where a single parent with two kids could wash etc with them close by?

Beech Croft Farm have a 'unisex' (mixed sex) area with 3 larger showers and 2 cubicles with a sink in each and a separate toilet. Great for families :)

I second the above.
Just to clarify, the unisex showers are separate cubicles, so you could have one each, but they are also large cubicles... big enough to share, if that's what you're looking for.

They are also 5* in the true sense of the phrase..... modern, spotless, and underfloor heating!!

Just off the A6.... 10min drive North to Buxton, or about 20min drive South to Bakewell.... or a 2 min stroll from the site entrance to the bus stop, which will get you to either.

fantastic ! thats perfect. I will have look at this. Buxton great for a day out at the park, and Bakewell for the tearooms and feeding of ducks! Plus only around 45 mins from home.

thanks to both of you.

Not sure where you are based but I camp with my 4 and 7 year old at a lovely site called Robin Hood Retreat in Bilsthorpe, Notts. Sherwood Forest and Rufford Park are close by.

You seem to be making a wise choice, Monomi!

So much so, in fact, that if you don't enjoy it there, give me a ring when you've had enough..... I'll be there in exactly 1 hour and 5 minutes, and not only take down your tent for you, I'll pack all your gear in the car too, whilst you wait in the pub up the road!!

No cheating, mind..... I'll be looking for miserable faces when I arrive!!

Thats sounds good. I live near Long Eaton, so a not too far away. I've booked Birch Croft farm now but that sounds like a good one for July!

Great offer - I'll print this off and take it with me just in case!

In fact may sneak a weekend in before Easter to test the tent out!
