Members will know that the club now shows prices as from £...
The problem is if you want to know the cost of a particular date you have to go through the process of making a booking. If you dont like the price you cancell the booking and then go through booking another date to see how much that would cost.
I could not believe this was right so telephoned the club to check and they confirmed that the only way to know the actual cost was to go through the booking process.
On the Caravan Club site you can see the whole season prices and then pick a date that suits your budget.
I was looking to book around 9 trips at around 12 sites and find dates to meet budgets I gave up. I certainly dont want to spend an hour or so on the phone getting the information from the club, whats the point of online planning/ booking. It is truely a nightmare, unless of course you can only go on a given date to only one site. It is crazy that to plan trips you have to go through a booking processs to find out the cost.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I've sent my membership cards back because of both their new pricing structure and the new membership rates. They must be loosing members hand over fist at the moment.
If I remember rightly, when I was a member of the club I phoned the sites directly to make a booking because I discovered the online booking forms might not be up to date and accurate. For instance the online booking told me a certain campsite had no EHU pitches left. When I phoned them directly I discovered they had several.

After one disaster with the booking system, I always ring the site, but then I can go only on certain dates Whilst this is not the CCC's fault, I wouldn't want to be reliant on online booking and then find myself having to go through the process many times as our broadband is so unreliable.
Read the "For the future" article in April's mag; it did absolutely nothing to reassure us. Interesting letter by one Stuart Hall - no objection to folks with big tents/EHU/caravans/motorhomes but the basic grass pitch only are getting less and less considered. Friend rang a couple of weeks back to book a pitch and was told that no grass, non EHU pitches left - they'd put in more EHU and hard-standings. That's another member lost.
Interestingly, two friends have gone to the "dark side" just recently - it's the right move for them, so speaking tongue in cheek. They were going to keep on with the CCC and said I was over-reacting over the changes but they've been having a good look at costs (extra ferry fees)and their usage and have twigged that they, too, aren't going to get value for money from membership.

I told them that only if they send me a stamped addressed envelope would I send our cards back.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Same here, after 21 years we won't bother renewing. Their own magazine has many adverts in the back from really nice sites offering deals if you book for 7 days etc. I think the rot set in when they started selling holiday homes and moved away from the whole ethos of camping. As pensioners we enjoyed discount in peak season at a few selected sites which suited us fine. Now that has gone and instead of 33% off it's only 25% when age concession is available. We can do better by using private sites, after all, careful reading of the reviews here give you a good idea of the standard of site.
