Hello all

Im thinking of going to southern Ireland in august this year,i have never been to anywhere in Ireland camping and would like some advice.
It would be 2 adults and one child 10 yrs old,we don't like places to busy and if there is a place close to a beach would be nice.
If there was a small village close by where we could sample a few local beverages suits me.
Also any advice on ferries would be a big help.

I live in Northern Ireland and have been around a fair few Irish and Northern Irish sites. Mannix Point on the Ring of Kerry is a particular stand out site as it's right on the coast and in a really beautiful area. It's beside the village of Caherciveen with 15 pubs in it. The campers facilities on site are brilliant, although to be fair things like campers sitting rooms, kitchens and dining facilities are quite common around Ireland.

Am I right in thinking that Mannix Point is now in the ACSI scheme? may not apply to school holidays though. I would certainly recommend it. Wave Crest further around the Ring of Kerry is lovely too if the weather is good, a bit out in the sticks but has a shop, and a beach bar (next to a lovely beach) along the road.

Wave Crest posted a video today on their FB page of the works to the site after storm damage. They're using a big digger to move huge stones around and hopefully all will be sorted for the summer season.
