Hi,
Need your help looking for site to suit us. Have looked on the search facility but so many sites my head is spinning.
We are a middle aged couple travelling from north of Leeds and firstly need a site about 6-7 hrs drive for a 1 night stopover, then travel into Cornwall next morning. Things we like to do. Taking bikes so want to do the camel trail ad maybe other cycling that's not too hilly. Nice site within walking distance of small town or somewhere to walk in the evening. Don't want a 500 pitch site with entertainment but a small bar on site would be ok but not that bothered. going on 6th May for 10 days. we don't usually pay more than about £15 - £20 a night. Its just where to go that's the problem, don't want to go as far as Lands end but want to go further than Bodmin, also quite like a nice beach as Ive heard the weather is going to be fantastic !!!!   Any ideas would be appreciated. We are in both clubs. J x

Have a look at Marazion or St Agnes Beacon CC sites, both no facilities sites, so you'll to use your own loo, but there's electric hookups.

Maybe Veryan CCC or Merrose Farm CC sites on the Roseland.

These will all give you the real Cornwall away from crowds and the Newquay nonsense.

What about Padstow Touring Park? It's close to the Camel Trail and close access to Padstow too.

I was going to suggest Dennis Cove at Padstow. It's right next to the Camel Trail and a short walk along the side of the estuary to Padstow itself. However they have put up their prices quite a lot since we were last there so it may be out of the price range you are looking for.

There is also a basic site at Tintagel that is a short walk into the village with pubs, shops, fish & chips etc plus where you can walk or get a Landrover down to the beach and castle.

Hope you find somewhere soon.

Hi

Try this site, cracking little site not on the camel trail side of cornwall, but is on the coast 2 coast bike trail where you can cycle from the north coast to the south coast.

Good small bar onsite, immaculately clean and easy access to visit deeper in cornwall.

There is a restaurant within walking distance, but not really a village.

Thanks so much for your replies.
Have now booked in at Cadeside, Wellington for our overnight stop.
Globe Vale looks pretty good also both sites at Padstow, Dennis cove £24.50 low season I bit pricey but may have to pay it as its close to the Camel Trail, Padstow touring park looks like it is at the top of a hill so either walk bikes back up or pay extortionate parking charges both of which I dislike !! its 20.50 a night which is ok as looks like a nice site. We really enjoyed this one last year. It was a short drive to Padstow and the Camel Trail which we cycled (if you park down one of the back roads higher up the hill you don't need to pay and there is a ramp down to the start of the trail) and the facilities were lovely. Definitely one we'd go back to.

Gwithian Farm is our favourite campsite in Cornwall, not particularly for the campsite, although it is great; brilliant owners , spotlessly clean, small shop etc.

But for it's location, less than 10 minutes across the dunes to one of the most fabulous beaches in Cornwall, right opposite a brilliant pub, within walking distance along the beach to another pub, Hayle is within 45 mins walk along the beach, bus to St Ives stops right outside the site, A great farm shop/PYO, Trevaskis farm 10 mins away.

We cycled to St Ives one day and threw our bikes in the boot of the bus on the way back, also cycled the Camel Trail a few times, something we miss now we have a dog.

But the best reason is the beach, if you catch the sea on an incoming tide as it washes over the sand that has been warmed in the sun all day, it's like being in the med.

Maybe this will persuade you.
