For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Just to let you know, I work in Newtown. There are some roadworks between welshpool and newtown at the moment. May get held up a bit! The rest of the way A470 isn't too bad at all!

we've done wrexham to tenby/saundersfoot a few times and find best way is A483 welshpool, newtown, a470 to llanidloes, llangurig, rhayader, builth wells (new stretch of bypass), a483 to llandovery, a40 to llandeilo, carmarthen, st clears (new bypass) to tenby on a477.

good stop part way for toilets and walk at builth wells, main car park by the river

Been there done that got the tshirt, going via Aberystwyth is a much pleasanter drive.

Ok, I've printed off the Janus route (thanks)through Newtown then across to Aberystwyth, then down to Cardigan, Narberth & Pembroke as my satnav will no doubt decide motorway is best.
So on Saturday it's off to Trefalen Farm nr Bosherton for 2 wks, just when the weather is breaking!
