we are thinking of visiting Cornwall soon but was wondering how the sites in the area are after the recent floods. We don't really want to stay on a site that has a boggy/waterlogged field. Any members got any info they are willing to share?

Cornwall wasn't really affected by floods, more high tides.

A campsite anywhere in the country could be a bit damp after the winter we have had, but most, even in Somerset where the floods really struck, are ok now.

To put your mind at rest why don't you ring the campsites you are interested in and ask or go to one with hard standings.

Don't think you'll have any problems at all. We had a lot of flooding here in Devon but nothing on the scale of the Somerset Levels. Quite a few of the Cornish sites (especially coastal ones) have well draining/sandy pitches that are rarely boggy even after rain.

Even a campsite in Mucheleny which was cut off for months with deep flooding is now open with customers to everything seems back to normal.

Cornwall didn't really get a lot of flooding. We were pretty waterlogged round here but it's all dried out and back to normal.

Just returned home from Caravan Club site at Treamble Valley near Perranporth. No problem whatsoever regarding pitches. As other posts have stated the problems were due to high tides rather than inland flooding. The surf centre and shops/restaurants at Fistral Beach Newquay were lucky they were'nt washed away completely but it's all up and running with contractors working hard to repair damage. No noticeable damage to dunes at Perranporth. Some damage to walls by high tides that's all. See my monicker below!!!

If it is any help - we went to Tollgate Farm, Perranporth and would recommend it as a good family run site. Is up high so probably no floods / boggy areas.

Ditto Frazzle, we went to Trevarrian Holiday Park, great family run site. Facilities include small outdoor pool, clubhouse, tin pin bowling alley, crazy golf, children’s play area.

Great location two wonderful beaches Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth.. both dog friendly within 15 mins walk or 2 min drive,

Just got back from 3 weeks in Cornwall, no floods.
Perranporth is good if you have a dog, they are allowed on parts of the beach all year round.
