My mother lives between Beddgelert and Porthmadog.
Buses run on a regular basis from Beddgelert to Port or Caernarfon in summer.
Basic shops and Take Away in Beddgelert but Port has Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Wilkinsons plus independents.

Cheers everyone, we're not looking for big shops, just somewhere to get some fresh bread etc. beddgelert seems
fine for this.
Would be good to see some more reviews on here for this

Ims forest campsite is my favourite, I have walked along to the village.both via road and walking along the unmade road to the house at the end, then through the fields, ending on the road.
Have you been since they built the narrow gauge railway across the back of the site? You can only walk halfway along the path now, then you have to cross the railway line, cut across a field full of sheep and the rest of it is on the road, which is very fast and has no footpath.
But to the OP, Beddgelert's beautiful, you'll love it.
I think you may be getting confused with the C&CC forestry site at Beddgelert which is on the opposite side of the town and has the railway at the back of the site.

There is Cae Due and Beddgelert forest hols. Forest hols, has a train station. I have been many times since they opened the track. Actually I was there on the first day they ran. I have done that walk a few times, Nora. It takes a little longer, than along the road. I love it there. I should try Cae Due at some point.

Its years since we were there but according to google maps its 0.7 miles and 1.1 miles from the forestry site. Not quite half the distance. The views from the pitches are great.
