Now here's a tall order! We've just come back from a wet summer break - now considering possible ideas for an October 2015 half term trip. We have a caravan & one couple has a motorhome, so we are fine with it being a tad chilly as long as we have EHU and either easy access water or a shower block. The others though normally camp and the end of Oct is a mite chilly. So we thought perhaps there might be places with cottage(s) and small campsite together.
Self catered accommodation would be for:
1 couple with dog and offspring (not sure which ones would come - boys of 14, 19 & 22 and girl of 16).
1 single unrelated adult with dog
1 couple with no kids/pets
Location is not overly important - open to ideas.
------------- Turning to caravanning from camping due to health. Got the van May 2011 - see images!
Have a look at Budle Farm in Bamburgh, Northumberland. It's a little CL site with three little cottages to let. There are no toilets or showers but has easy access to water and has EHU. It is 2 mins walk to the beach down the farmers track which allows dogs. There is a bus stop at the top of the lane.
We have just spent last weekend there and loved it. The view looks over the Bay from your pitch. Beautiful
Heres a picture of the site from the top of the farmers track.

Have a look at Harford Bridge, Tavistock. They have camping, a cottage, statics and a shepherds hut all set in the most stunning Dartmoor countryside and just 2 miles from Tavistock.

The CC site at Grange over Sands (Meathop Fell) is a grand site and has cottage/appt to rent on site which fits your requirements. Lovely area as well.
How do you fancy a boat? Broadlands CC site is within 50yds of the free Ludham bridge moorings, and floating 'Gin Palaces' with all mod cons including full electrics, ensuites and central heating, sleeping between 2 to 12 people can be hired from most of the broads boatyards, and most big kids love it being able to take a turn as 'skipper'.
Its also a great way to explore the area and invite guests onboard during the day for a cruise to a local pub or restaurant for lunch, or simply moor up in one of the pretty villages and go shopping or simply explore whats on offer of the many tourist attractions.
