we are looking to camp really close to a main overground rail link into London so we can take our 4 bikes on the train into London. We have 2 children 9 and 8 years of age. We need to get to Blackfriars, charing cross or cannon street. anyone with local knowledge to help us out on this one would be rally appreciated! Many thanks

Before anything else, I would check the rules on bikes on trains in the London area. I think many trains do not have facilities for full sized bikes in the London area.
Taking bikes and young children onto Londons roads, i think if you do, you will only ever do it once.
Took my car into London once and never even considered doing it again,

Don't worry all we are hoping to do the prudential free cycle which is 8 miles of traffic free zone around London and some of it's famous landmarks! Thanks for the tips so far
We stayed at a C&CC site near Waltham Cross...Theobalds Park...not sure what the routes are into London, but you could either get on at Waltham Cross mainline station (think this took you to Liverpool Street) or Cockfosters tube station was a little further away, which is on the Piccadilly line.

There is a site some friends stayed at near Merstham that is on the mainline into London Bridge and from there it's a quick change to Charing Cross, Alderstead Heath that could be worth looking at. I would definitely check Tfl should you end up looking at somewhere you need a tube link to as there are only a handful of parts of lines you can take bikes on and none of the actual underground parts. But you could struggle with cycle capacity restrictions on trains - does the cycle ride provide any special train information on this for you? If it's on a general commuter route, most trains have a cycle area but I doubt you'd fit 4 bikes in the space.
Full sized bikes are not banned on the Tube, just very restricted http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/cycling-in-london/bikes-on-public-transport
The terminals you need are covered mainly by Southern trains - http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/cycle-policy/
It may be worthwhile checking sites north of London too as Blackfriars as that is on the Thameslink line through London although this is notorious for weekend engineering closures so could be a gamble.
There is a campsite at Debden on the Central Line. Site is just a few minutes drive to tube or a short bike ride. They even do cycle hire at the campsite.

There is a camp site near Abbey Wood station, south east of London, sorry can't remember the name, served by South Eastern trains with a regular service in to London, 4 trains an hour when I drove them, there is no problem taking cycles on to the trains, just not in the rush hour, don't forget some strong cycle locks though!
