I'm down south so the ones I know devon, Cornwall etc are probably too far for you.

Here is a thread that seems to list more northern sites when the question was asked.
If you can make it down this far, the west coast of devon is fantastic for learning to surf , body board etc.
Maybe there's sites nearer you near lakes, with kayaking etc on?

To be honest, it really depends on what they like to do, after all teenagers are just people (although there are times when you do wonder which planet they are on!) with differing ideas of what constitutes a good holiday.
I know that my eldest loved active lively sites, but my youngest two like the quieter sites where they can enjoy fishing, kayaking and walking, although that may well change now that my 15 year old son has discovered that girls are a bit more interesting than the annoying creatures that he knows as his four sisters!
I would say the lakes are a good bet, or Derbyshire or the east coast, why not get them to have a look as tell you which sites appeal to them? Might even get an enthusiastic response, or perhaps I am being rather optimistic !
Jane.
