Hi.
I have booked for August at Coniston Park with the intention of taking our inflatable kayak for DD and DH to paddle for a few days.
Looking again at the details it seems that we could end up on a pitch with a significant walk to the water, and as DH is having problems with his knee this could be a problem.
We previously stayed at the CC site at Windermere so don't want to go back to that area, although we loved it, and we still couldn't get straight into the water.
Now I'm running out of time to find somewhere else. Doesn't have to be Lake District, but does need to work in with the second booking which is Hawes.
Any ideas on the areas basically between Coniston and Hawes, for a caravan and water access?
Thank you.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Not exactly what you asked for but we've arrived back today from Slenningford water mill near Ripon not too far away from Hawes really. It is a fantastic site for water access, not a lake admittedly but a slow flowing river Ure which runs through the site. There is a beach and as well as being suitable for kyackers and canoes it is also suitable for kids in boats or just paddling in. Lovely area and I could easily have spent a week there with our 3 kids.
If memory serves me right the C&CC at Keswick has direct access to the lake. Think they make a small launching charge for boats but don't know if they charge for inflatable kayaks
