Hoping you might be able to give me some inspiration. We usually go away as a family so I'm pretty well up on all the localish campsites which would suit us as a family. However we are possibly going away, just the 2 of us, in oct so am looking for quite a different type of site.

We've not yet tried a CL or CS but would consider them. We'd like to be within walking distance of a lovely restaurant (bistro style or posher) so we can both have a drink and totter back. This requirement wouldn't normally hit my radar at all as is the hard one to work out on the campsite search.

Geography wise cromer round to suffolk is the area we're looking as don't know that area very well. In an ideal world I'd love a seaview too.

From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!

One of our favourites is Waxham Sands holiday park. Very basic,  Just a field with troilet blocks. Sand dunes form one side of the site and then the beach. about £16 pn

In Sept its so quiet like something out of the 60's... Peace, just the sound of the wind and the waves...

No traffic noise.  bliss...

There is a new ish smart cafe at a converted barn used for weddings etc about 1mile not sure if they do evening meals etc but lovely cakes and coffee and Sea Palling (2 miles or 1.5 miles straight up the beach...) has a reasonable pub (they allow well behaved dogs in on leads, as well) (no Credit cards just cash!) Chippy etc.

If you want mega posh, find a site at Morston on the North Norfolk coast and visit Morston Hall for a meal - or if that is beyond your price range, the pub in the village is award winning for it's food.

EDIT - Just done a search - how about Scaldbeck Cottage?  Also I'd recommend the seal trips from Morston.

I was going to suggest Thornham in North Norfolk. There's a lovely pub, part of Marco Pierre White's chain, so the food (and beer) is good. There's a little caravan site next to it, but they must all be owned statics, as the site's not listed here. There is another CL site nearby though and the one at Thornham in Suffolk looks worth visiting! So many lovely places to visit, such little time to do it.

Try Fakenham, the race course site is within walking distance of at least 4 pubs and several restaurants, English, Chinese, Thai, Indian. No sea view.
Wells next Sea, plenty of Pubs and posh restaurants, including one owned by the Holkhan Est and one owned by the Kiwi fella.

Try Broadlands at Ludham, its a CC site, but is within easy reach of several nice restaurants around the pretty villages that suround the site. The Bridge inn at acle is also part of Marco Piere Whites chain of restaurants, but its more of a Gastro pub than fine dining. If you want something a little upmarket, then try the Lavender House in Norwich, high quality fine dining, with a price to match at around £50pp for a three course dinner. Or head upto Coltishall and sample the delights of one of the riverside pub restaurants, which seam to be very popular with the locals.
