Hi, I am new to this camping lark and my family enjoyed our first camping trip last week. We would like to go again this weekend (Late August Bank holiday)but are struggling to find anywhere, for obvious reasons.
If anyone can help I'd be grateful.
We would like EHU, we have a Vango Icarus 500, so size isn't really an issue, something with a play area for our 7 yr old, that's about it really. A decent location with things to explore would be good, but not a deal breaker. A pool would be good too, but I'm realistic.
We live in Doncaster and recently went to Sherwood Forest Holiday Park, really enjoyed it.
Hope you can help an novice out.

I would try ringing round as the weather doesn't look good and I am sure people will be cancelling.
You could try some in Derbyshire, Rivendale, Callow top, Greenhills, Beechcroft farm, Birchwood farm, look them up in the campsite search they are all reasonably sized sites who take tents.
Vale of pickering at pickering, no pool but a really nice family site with a good play area, close to Scarborough, Whitby, Filey etc, also similar is the black bull at pickering.
Good luck, persevere and you will get in somewhere. The one and only time we've gone away at bank hol was an August bank hol a few years ago and we'd got a new tent and were desperate to go away (oh usually always works bank hols) I contacted about 20 sites and finally got in at Orchard View somewhere like Sutton St. John Spalding and it was a great little site.

Thanks to you both. Again, I'm not too hot with forums, its all a bit new to me. Sorry if I've not followed correct forum etiquette.
There is no etequette to follow as I know of.......its always nice to get new folks on here. This was the first forum I went on and I have gained lots of info on eveything not just caravanning. Most folks on here are friendly and ready to help.
A couple have said they will call me Friday evening / Saturday morning to see if they can squeeze me on. Is this normal?
Golden Valley CCP and Pilgrims Way CC. Both look great for my son, I am worried that I'll get a no from both and be stuck in all weekend.
I appreciate I have left it very late, but in mitigation, the bug has just bitten me.
If you've not found anywhere yet try ditching the EHU for the weekend. Last summer holidays when we started family camping we had two holidays in the west country, both were booked at a around 10 days notice with no problem despite being the most popular corner of the country. Some of the campsites we have stayed on have had spare space for non EHU pitches and one (in Conwy, look them up in my reviews if that location interests you) said they always had space for tents when we phoned to book on the day. You might also be able to find a campsite that is 'No Advance Bookings' in which case as long as you turn up early you're in. The only one I have stayed on though does have a booking system for Bank Hols.
It's a Bank Holiday (i.e. banks are closed) but not a Public Holiday up here. So we've never found a problem getting fitted in north of the Border. Doncaster would be about 3 hours away for the Borders and Dumfries & Galloway.
