To be honest, I wouldn't mind paying a small fee if I was going to spend a day with friends on a campsite. What annoyed us was that friends had explained I would be dropping off their property to them en route to my destination - they gave my name and vehicle reg and at no time did the warden say anything about charging. I went to the reception and was shocked to be told I had to pay for basically shifting something out of my car into theirs.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Supermarket deliveries are a commercial transaction, fran1000. I assume that sites that allow this have a deal with the relevant supermarket or are happy to allow such deliveries. I was simply delivering friends' property - no commercial transaction involved - just being helpful as I was passing site entrance en route. No difference from meeting up in a layby or pub car park to drop stuff off to mates.
