Just a thought, do you drink water from your caravan taps? You could maybe try giving your hoses an extra Puriclean, just in case any nasties have lodged themselves in there. Some people (and some dogs) are more sensitive to these things than others.
Hope everyone's feeling better now.
If the dogs became ill in two different places then the cause is likely to be closer to home. Could their food have been 'off' in the heat? As suggested, could the water be tainted? Are there any common factors that the dogs do/eat/chew that could have caused problems for them all?
Of course, they could just have 'holiday tummy' as we humans sometimes get.
Don't forget to run a little water from the campsite tap before use unless it is a tap that is clearly used often. Some campsite taps may not be used regularly and then water in the standpipe has been congealing in the sun for some time. At one campsite I could have boiled an egg in the first lot of water that came from the standpipe.
Dogs can be surprisingly sensitive to changes in water.
My first Lakeland used to get an upset stomach whenever we went away anywhere. We used to take a couple of litres of water from home, and start adding "local" water to it over a couple of days, until he was drinking the water from wherever we were. That seemed to sort it.
People who show their dogs often take their own water to shows because the change upsets dogs, that was what made me twig what the problem was with my boy.
Very odd, considering he would regularly drink from stagnant ponds and puddles at home without any problems.
Agree. Tank water is only used for cooking (heat kills any bugs) and washing up. We take a filter jug with us with a fresh filter, and fill it from a site tap for drinking water for us and dog. If daughter and dogs were poorly, it can't be the dog's food going off, or dog eating something it shouldn't have. (Ours ate a bit of jellyfish once - not good, though the result was almost instant and therefore on the beach not in the tent). And in two places, the likelihood of both having the same virus (or whatever) are too slim. Has to be something you take with you, and I agree that the drinking water is the most likely. (You can get it tested, I think, to confirm what you're dealing with.)

Fiona - you have read this wrong, "dogs and daughters dog". I read it like that at first glance and was struggling to find a connection between dog and human virus!! Our dog generally drinks from mucky puddles or fire buckets but he always has done and never seems to bother him. There are areas of seasonal canine disorder reported - we are going to Clumber in a couple of weeks so we will make sure he sticks to paths rather than running through the forest.
