Travelling from CC site at Chatsworth in 3 weeks up to the CC site at Blackpool, Is the A623 to the A6 from Baslow ok for caravans or is there a better route.
Thanks

The road from Baslow to Ashford in the Water is twisty but it is a main route used by all traffic. I drove along there last week in a 8mtr motorhome without any problems. Just be aware that the bends are tight and a HGV may be coming the other way.
Are you planning to go up the A6 to Stockport? If you are, then, you might like to think about going via Buxton, Macclesfield and Knutsford to the M6. That's the route I use, winding but scenic with fewer towns and villages. It was recommended by a local taxi driver.
Hope this helps
Sorry, I got the wrong road. The A623 is a main route used by everything. Can be slow at times. As I said in my previous post, I go along the A619 and A6020 to the A6, then Buxton etc..
We live not far from Preston and never go via Stockport when we go to Chatsworth, the A6 is a pain!
Instead we go via Chapel-en-le-Frith onto the M67 at Glossop, anti-clockwise to the M62, then M61 (and for you then the M55 and Blackpool). I've copied the link to this route, which is from the CC website.
Edited: when I clicked on the link it just took me back to the start of planning a route. If you want to see the route I mean then go to the CC website and to the Blackpool site info. One of the options is to plan a route, and the route it came up with is the one we always use. We have done the A6 via Stockport, but it is a pain IMHO!
