We moved away from 3rd party booking sites as the % commission rates were eating much of the fee! Especially on shorter stays, we have a paypal system via invoicing but again have to charge the customers as their fees as you rightly say are expensive.....
We've looked into Barclays merchant services BUT we need a remote terminal and even with BHHPA discount the terminal hire outweighs its worth when we only are able to open for 7 months, plus they want a per transaction fee, plus a 12 month 'contract'... whats worse is we bank and have done for years with Barclays ( who most definitely DO NOT listen to their customers as we listen to ours )
Being on a small scale we are considering izettle but that doesn't allow for phone/online bookings on when the customer arrives and it all costs LOTS!
If you find a good solution, please pass on Crowsnest, as it goes we had worldpay on the phone this morning and they are even more expensive!
------------- If you can't beat em, join em, so we did! And then we sold it for a holiday let & Glamping pod instead 😁

Personally I love it when I can pay with Paypal. Much easier. It's all in my head, no messing around with cards, and no card details having to be held securely by the seller/service provider.
I know that won't be everyone's view.
My least preferred option is a website requiring card details each time. I know, security, yada yada yada.

Funnily enough i prefer paying by paypal too, its good to at least have the option. We will probably go with it and give it a try at least.
Jakers - whichever one you go with make sure it is reliable. I am sure you will get many more bookings and will be fantastic for your park. Generally the easier it is for someone to book, the more likely they are to do so. Do you get many people who promise to send a deposit through but you never hear from them? We are with Streamline and Paypoint.net for online transactions, probably not cheapest but it is through our bank with a Welcome to Yorkshire tourist board discount. Not many problems and sorted very quickly when there is a faulty terminal or something.

Where's that, mike?
Beynac, on the banks of La Dordogne. Camping Le Capeyrou.
And there I was thinking it was Knaresborough!
Only 45mins from Mike.

I am also a solo camper - non-EHU - and so are several colleagues but we're finding that, providing we're prepared to share a chalet/static, twin in a hostel, it is cheaper to do this than camping - despite loving camping.
I used to get hacked off with sites that charge a flat rate per pitch, especially when I found myself camped next to large groups that used far more in terms of resources but were paying the same.
Now I don't go to those sites, but I'm still glad they exist so that families can get an affordable break.
The things that hack me off are all the extras, especially sites that charge as much for a dog as they do for a child, and coin-operated showers where you waste your first 20p getting the water temperature right and have to pop out wrapped in your towel to put another one in!
