am booking my sites for New Year shortly. We usually go to Bowness or Windermere but fancy change this year. Anyone been to Chatsworth for New Year. For a site that is usually fully booked it currenly has availability. We love Keswick and been many times so at the moment its between Chatsworth or Keswick. We have dogs so need dog walks nearby and hopefully doggy friendly pubs. Am open to other suggestions if anyone willing to reommend anywhere in Northern England.

Ooh, difficult one I think...

We've done Keswick a couple of times now. Only for weekend breaks as my boss has a holiday cottage over there and offered me and OH it when it was available.

Keswick, obviously it's 'walking' country and all the pubs we went in were dog friendly.

Except for the newly opened Weatherspoons 'Chief Justice Of The Common Pleas', down the bottom end of the high street.

If you do Keswick, you MUST go to the 'Dog & Gun' pub and have their famous Goulash. But be warned, people do wait for the pub opening, and then it full constantly from then on because of the goulash!!

Chatsworth? Not done it, but have done the Buxton cc site and loved that place and hope to go back in May.

Found it very handy for dog walking as it's set in an old quarry with a country park next door with walks all over including down to Buxton (around 20 minutes).

Don't know about dog friendly pubs in and around Buxton though, so can't help there though...

Hi, Ive been to Chatsworth, lovely site, not a great deal (pubs/eateries) in walking distance, lovely walks in the grounds of the house.
I live near Keswick, (not stayed on site) but the town and area are unbeatable, plenty of shops, pubs, cafes, walkable and the best area for varied dog walking. I would choose Keswick.

chatsworth good for dogs not so good on pubs, another suggestion is the cc site at Castleton great walking place ,you can visit bakewell ,Buxton and chatsworth weather permitting .the walks direct from site are whatever you want flat along the river into hope or up the fells mam tor ,loose hill etc .but the best part in close walking distance to 6 pubs 5 of wich are dog friendly great food real ale and roaring fires
