We did a CL (near Redditch) just off the M42 on our way to Devon last year. It was about half way for us. Not quite Bristol but only 2 junctions from the M5. Very secure site which was only £10 for the night.

Tudor Farm

Definitely recommend this one. Tudor farm is the same as Tudor Arms as HarryB mentioned.

Open all year, good canal boating centre with café, pub etc, walks. You may even decide to stay there instead of Newquay.

I stayed at this caravan site last July for one night and will probably use it again this July on our way from Blyth to Newquay.

Sumerset View

It is about two miles from M5 Junction 24 on good caravan friendly roads and good access direct from a large layby on the main road. Good for overnight, friendly reception. £17 for two adults. £3 children 4years +
