We have stayed here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1322 a few times. Fantastic site.

you have a fair few beaches in easy reach, Dawlish, Paignton, Torquay, to name a few and then there is the fantastic Dartmoor too. Took my Grandson here and he had a great time.

Hmm Frannyvan. Tough question! We did them both on tesco and the excellent exmoor zoo.

For little ones I'd defo say Big Sheep. My nephews are 4&2 and absolutely loved it. My boys 6&9 also loved it. You also get the benefit of a cheap second visit (even on tesco vouchers) which we took advantage of. So better value.

I'd say older kids (maybe 8+) might get more out of the Milky Way. There's a small roller coaster and an interesting science show (if it's still on).

We will do Big Sheep when we go in Aug as we are going with my sister again and it is best suited to the range of ages.

Thanks Mand - our kids will be 3 and 11 by then. I'm hoping for a good summer and that we will be on the beach most of the time. It's good to have a plan for inclement days though.
Think they are the same voucher, so can make a decision whilst there. Thanks for your input x

I would recommend Brixham area. (see my site review of Galmpton - where I talked for England)

For Children
Brixham - a town
Stoke Gabriel - small village great for crabbing
Small beaches (see review for names) including Man Sands
Brixham front for great play equipment
Steam train
Go karting
Didn't do any theme parks.

I live in Goodrington, Paignton.
When we used to come here on holiday we have stayed on Broadleigh Farm, which was a nice site, and Galmpton Touring Park. Galmpton is really lovely, Broadleigh used to be cheaper and quieter (don't know if it still is).
Galmpton has fab views, on site play park, little shop and is on the edge of a lovely village with a pub and shop. Broadleigh is edge of real rural, and the approach road is narrow. If you look on Google maps the road which leads from Whitehill Country Park to Broadleigh is the problem bit. If one caravan meets another there is trouble. We stored our caravan there so we were ok, but when we started caravanning we (and I mean hubby here)had to reverse twice with it on because the driver the other way was terrified. :-)
I loved this area so much that I now live here. But honestly, Galmpton is a lovely location. Short distance to Brixham, Paignton and Torquay obviously, but also to Stoke Gabriel, Elberry Cove, Churston Cove, Berry Head Country Park, Dartmouth etc. The South West coastpath walk from Broadsands to Brixham is beautiful. You can walk from the site down to the river and pop over on a small passenger ferry boat, or head to Kingswear for the 2 main ferries. The Dartmouth Steam railway is a great trip, this runs from Paignton to Kingswear Ferry along the coast. The South Devon Steam train runs from Totnes to Buckfastleigh. Paignton Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country, there is a special ticket which is slightly more but allows you to visit Living Coasts too. Also Dartmoor is within a short drive.

..oh yes, and Stoke Gabriel is the crabbing capital of the south west, if not the world! Dropped it in once and when we pulled it out there was a ball of crabs clinging on...not kidding, about 12 of them all after one bit of bacon (don't bother with "bait", raw bacon is the best)the kids absolutely love it there.

North Devon is lovely. I have a seasonal pitch not far from Woolacombe (Mill Park Campsite) that I'm reluctantly giving up from 2nd June. It's the 2nd best pitch on the campsite, by the lake! Often a waiting list of 7 years to get this close. If anyone's interested in a summer by the sea - let me know.

Head for Croyde, you won't be disappointed.

Try Ruda as the site is behind the sand dunes and its 2 minutes to a glorius beach if you walk slowly.

The walks are superb up to Baggy and beyond to Woolacombe. Locally there are lovely pubs serving very good food (The Rock at Georgeham or The Thatch / Billy Budds in Croyde). Broughton is 5 miles away and has a good selection of take aways and a Tesco.

Like Claire & Colin I can highly recommend Ross Park at Ipplepen. It's not on the coast but we drove to Torquay, Paignton and Brixham in around 20 minutes. It's a fantastic park which is setup for the whole family.

Avoid Slapton Sands as the beaches round there are all shingle.

avoid: whitesands near Paignton - really not a nice site unfortunately - that's the only one ive been to in devon (usually go to cornwall) - weve booked to go to oakdown - hoping that's a bit better :) if youre not set on devon, moonfleet farm in dorset is lovely, absolutely beautiful and amazing bathroom/campers facilities, nothing else, but you can have campfires, and the kids absolutely love love love it - named as their fave campsite - no play park just a big field with a massive tree and some football goals. But the kids absolutely loved it :)

Sorry was just looking for this post again, so that I could look what was said about The Big Sheep and Milky Way...
But looks like Tesco have taken Crealy and Milky Way off their vouchers list!
How annoying!
