Hi
We're thinking of 1 week on the beach in Wales and then 1 week near Snowdon for some walking. Have read lots of reviews, but wondered if anyone was willing to share their favourites?
We'd love to do a bit of surfing and like quiet family sites without evening entertainment and would like to be able to walk to the beach. A good sunset would be a bonus.
Somewhere near Snowdon, but not too isolated would be great for our second week, if anyone has any recommendations.
Many thanks

Conwy tourist park, within easy reach of Snowdon by car, and also some lovely walks through Sychnant pass, which if you are physically fit, and dont mind some steepish inclines, can be done as a hike from the site and follow the signposts upto the pass from just outside of the town walls.

Llandudno is also within easy reach with all its facilities, beaches, shops and of course the famous Great Orme with its tram and cable cars upto the summit. There are also some lovely quiet beaches of golden sand that run at the mouth of the Conwy estury, and down towards the Menai straights. A water taxi is available from the quayside in Conwy to several points around the estury, and over to Deganwy, a small town set on the far shore.

The site has stunning views, is set in terraces, and has a small basic shop and a pub onsite that sometimes has live music on at weekends and high season, and they also sell a small sellection of freshly cooked pub meals in the evenings. This is all tucked away in one area of the site, so if you prefare a more quiet and secluded pitch to relax and watch the sun go down over the estury, then just mention this when booking.

Thanks Julia. I haven't been for decades so am not at all familiar with the area, so your tips are really welcome. Thank you.
Will check out all the recommendations.
Also just found Llyn Gwynant Campsite
don't know if anyone knows it? - but looks great for hiring boats, bikes and generally being outside.
Really appreciate everyone's input - many thanks

Anglesey for the first week? It has by far the best beaches in North Wales imo. We stay at a CS called Bodewran Bach, quite basic but does have loos and showers, is inland, about a mile from the A5, but easy to get to everywhere. Can't help with Snowdonia, you don't want to stay at the one site we used.

Near beaches Benar Beach or Shell Island Can be a tent wrecker if it gets very windy.
Or if you want the quiet life a couple of miles inland from the beaches Dinas. Or Nantcol both near Llanbedr, near Harlech.
For Snowdon Llyn Gwynant Can walk up Snowdon from site. Can be very sunny or very wet due to the mountains though.

There's a nice little CC CL at Newborough behind the Tacla Taid motor museum. 5 minutes drive to Newborough beach, park in the trees, walk through the forest and the sand dunes to the beach. The beach is huge and sandy and they do surfing (or something) there. Little island you can walk out to if the tide's out.

Hello all,

Like Gulliver suggested shell island is a good site as its near Snowdonia but it depends on what time of year you go as it can become a bit rowdy and noisy in the summer.

We stayed in the Gower about 5 years ago near Llangenith and watched lots of people stand up surfing there so I think that would be a good place.

We stayed at Kennexstone camping and touring park and their are good walking paths to the beach from here.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Krowenna. I'd also read a lot about Shell island and I think as we are tied to school holidays we'd find it a little busy. Will definitely follow up upyour suggestions.
Many thanks!
