Getting our caravan in two weeks and will be towing it to the storage site we've found - my first time ever towing anything. We'd like to go camping in it over Easter for the first time. I'm really nervous about manoeuvring down narrow lanes until I've had a bit more practice with driving it so ideally our first site would not be one that is at all tricky to access.

Other than that, I'd like to find something an hour or two away from Oldham. This could be the Peak District, Cheshire, maybe the Lake District. We'll have three little boys who would enjoy a child-friendly site.

Would anyone like to make some recommendations for me to look at? I would be very grateful.

Have a look at Sherwood Forest Holiday Park Notinghamshire, this is an ideal site for beginners. We don't go here anymore since our children got older but it is really children friendly.

Carridge House Marsden just through Standedge cutting  A62.      Out of the storage on to Manchester rd,  over the bypass up Huddersfield rd on the right just passed the cutting,

10 van site so it's quiet,  Has play area.  Serves food and beer.  Near enough to home if you forget anything.  Hand Gliders jump off the hill at the back to keep you entertained.

Not forgetting the sheep  17

First time towing anything? That's brave. I wouldn't go near a caravan if I hadn't done a towing course and learnt how to load it up evenly too. But I hope you have a lovely trip, the first of many.

I've seen the hang gliders while driving down that road! So I know the area you mean.

Being close to home does sound appealing perhaps for a one-night trial run.

The camp in Sherwood Forrest also sounds ideal for a slightly longer stay.

Hi mate,
Windy Harbour is great if you have kids 45 mins away also really nice site Cawood caravan park about 1hr 10min away. Just take it easy and you will be fine. I used to stress about it but once you've been out a couple of times you'll be fine.

We live a couple of miles down the road on the Yorkshire side from the site, you would be surprised what the sheep get up to round here.

Carriage House nr Maaasden is good grub and easy access. Head the other way and look at Lady Heyes. (Not far from Runcorn, but may be booked up for Easter)

Try Lowther in Lake District. I'm in bolton it it takes an hour and half (maybe you a bit more) access to site is really easy as it's literally a minute or two off J40 M6 and a long wide sweeping drive up to entrance. Have you got a motor mover to position van once on site?
