We have for many years stayed at New England Bay near port logan but are ready for a change. Any area considered but must be quiet with no bar and clubs etc . Thx

If you do Port Logan from Lancashire, you have passed close to Sandyhills Bay, east of Rockcliffe, west of Dumfries. Look up Gillespie Leisure group (has 4 sites) but this one has a huge long beach that's tucked away from the west winds. Also part of the same group is Brighouse Bay (it's by a beach but it has all the extras you don't want). Not stayed at it, just gone to the deserted beach, but Mossyard may fit the bill (west of Gatehouse of Fleet).
Probably too far, but a fabulous beach with amazing views to Arran - Carradale on Kintyre. Others up far north west - Clachtoll is often cited. We liked Gruinard Bay... step out of the MH onto the sand, and views to die for.
If you want to come as far north as Aberdeenshire, then Banff Links and Fraserburgh are adjacent to their respective beaches... Both fairly basic sites, but easy walk into town, shops etc...
Banff links...
Fraserburgh .. taken from beside the site
If you want to go to the real north of Scotland, then Dunnet bay CC site is also right beside the beach..

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Thx for your replies we went to clachtoll many years ago (pre children) loved it. We went to killegruer two years ago loved it aswell but what a journey. Whilst there had a ride to carradale bay, I have driven hgv's for over thirty years and am confident towing but that road frightens me! We have been to Fife but not any further on that side will look into your suggestions thx.

How about South Wales? We've just booked this place for the early spring bank holiday. Never been but looks great, gets good reviews and at under £70 for 3 nights with ehu on a bank holiday it's a bit of a bargain too!
Cheers Daves mate that looks good. Another friend of mine has found a site on Arran that looks fantastic. Seal shore, not cheap but a super location. Despite the owners words I suspect there might be a midge issue unless you know different ,or any recomendatios to cope with the scourge of the west of Scotland thx.
A friend of mine was in the army and based up in Scotland for a while. He swears by the spray on Avon skin so soft for the midges. I've used it myself and I have to say it really does work better than anything else I've ever used.
