If you do Port Logan from Lancashire, you have passed close to Sandyhills Bay, east of Rockcliffe, west of Dumfries. Look up Gillespie Leisure group (has 4 sites) but this one has a huge long beach that's tucked away from the west winds. Also part of the same group is Brighouse Bay (it's by a beach but it has all the extras you don't want). Not stayed at it, just gone to the deserted beach, but Mossyard may fit the bill (west of Gatehouse of Fleet). Probably too far, but a fabulous beach with amazing views to Arran - Carradale on Kintyre. Others up far north west - Clachtoll is often cited. We liked Gruinard Bay... step out of the MH onto the sand, and views to die for.
