HI
Just thought I'd give my opinion on Wellington Country Park, Riseley, Berkshire.
It's situated on the Hampshire/Berkshire border and is well worth a visit.
We took our 9 man dome tent and had plenty of room on the pitch to park the car and tie the dog up. The minimum pitch size is 8 x 9 metres, soo accomodate large tents at no extra cost. The pitches are situated in a woodland setting and as you looked out of our tent door you saw all the deer staring back at you from the deerpark. It's very peaceful and quiet and you can go on many of the walking trails in the wood.
For children there's plenty to do including an enchanted Forest, Snakes and ladders an adventure playground and an animal farm. Admission to the country park is free to campers and after 5.30pm the park is closed to the public but campers can still use it for walks etc. We went to the adventure playground every night after tea and had the whole place to ourselves. There is also a large lake in the middle where you can hire boats out through the day or fish or walk round of an evening.
The washing facilities are very good, plenty of hot water and not too far to walk to from the pitches.
To access the camping area you are given a key for a large gate which is always locked, and the site warden is always on hand if needed.
I will definately be going again and would cetainly reccomend it to anyone who lives nearby who wants to go for a short break.
