Didn't renew and have joined the CC this time -the offer of two free nights for joining was very attractive & the saving means we get the membership virtually foc.
The CL's appeal to us and as the CC don't allow tents they should be more peaceful than the CS's.
Plus 1 (and no offence intended).

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
It saddens me to think that my comments have offended anybody and I am sorry if that was the case. It certainly was not my intention. I was a tenter myself many years ago.
I was merely drawing attention to the fact that CL's are only supposed to allow 5 caravans whereby CS's allow 5 caravans and as many tents as they can fit in so obviously, the more people on the site, the busier it will be... or the less peaceful it will be. We used CS's many times when we were members and my statement is based on my experience.
I was trying to be helpful & I posted this comment because I didn't know if the pstuart was aware of the rules regarding CL's & CS's. If VangoMan02 is correct about these sites allowing tents, then I have been given the wrong information.
I was refering more to the C.C main sites that allow tents but you are right the CL's do not generally allow tents, although I have stayed on a few CL's over the years in our caravan and there has been a couple of tents at times.

It is a fool who has to say something.

Can I just say the above statement was meant for the original poster Petra8315. Sorry for the misunderstanding
VangoMan02, I think your sign off is spot on.

My mum and dad were in the caravan club for years. They'd be on a rally at least twice a month throughout the year costing no more than £10 a night. They were so into the whole thing that my dad spent a year on the committee of his local centre and they frequently ran their own rallies.
Now I'm very interested in low pitch fees and am not averse to a site with the most basic of facilities but I'll draw the line at a cow pat covered farm field where the grass is above your welly tops and the only facilities are a tap and a 6ft deep hole in the corner to serve as an ELSAN. This from memory is what most CC rallies consisted of.
I know members of both clubs get discount at their respective sites but fees at those sites tend to be at the higher end of the spectrum to start with and even with the discount are not what I'd consider cheap. Especially when you've already paid circa forty nicker for the privilege. Also, I know of at least 2 sites that the mrs and I used to love that have gone downhill after being taken over by C&CC.
I've thought several times about joining the C&CC but find it a hard thing to justify spending money on. My mum and dad loved their time in the CC and I reckon they got good value for money. If, like them, you want to attend rallies and/or temporary holiday sites, or want to spend your camping time on dull, soulless cl's (yes, I know a lot of people like them, it's just a personal opinion)then go for it. If not then I really don't see the benefit.
Any motorhome owners might like to check out the Motorcaravanners Club Uk. We have one of their Certified Locations here in Lincolnshire (Hoopers) We are allowed to take members and non members and are allowed to have motorcaravans or touring caravans. They are allowed to have a pup tent for kids or an awning.
The ccc temporary holiday sites are very good you can turn up on most of then without booking you can hand your membership card to tge person who is running the rally and go and pay when you want to leave its save paying up front when you arrive on a site
also with cc holiday site you have to book for a week or more and you have to trawl the internet to see what rallys are on
with ccc mag you have all the rally info in the magazine
