Hi All.
We are venturing to Scotland this Summer, we,ve never been there before so wondering if anyone can recommend some campsites, we have a 12 year old so somewhere with some activities nearby would be welcome.
Thanks
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Near Aviemore - Glenmore site at the Cairngorms or Rothiemurchus 5 miles along the road. Fantastic area with loads of cycle tracks, loch at Glenmore with boating fun and more activities in the area than you'd need including a Treezone.
Totally agree with the last post. Aviemore is a great place in summer with loads for young and old to do. It isn't to everyones taste but visitors are drawn to its obvious charms and the campsites around are very popular. The scenery is awesome and a 12 year old would be spoiled for choice. Scotland in miniature.
Angela - your profile doesn't say where you're from. Scotland is longer than England (Selkirk is half way, if you fold UK in half), so if you're starting in the far south of England, then south Scotland would be a good starter for ten and I agree with Brighouse Bay. If you're coming from north England, then the same journey time will get you to the (more touristy) delights of Aviemore already mentioned.
Auchenlarie at Gatehouse of Fleet, we have just returned from Southerness as pool etc if bad weather but think it would get busy during summer. There is a CC site at Strathclyde Park, theme park a few minutes walk, Airspace not far you can hire bikes at Loch, 13 mile from Glasgow loads of places to visit and 40 mins from Edinburgh. The site is next to the motorway so could be noisy during the day.
------------- Returning to camping ....... Forgot how good camping can be.
