Hi,

I am currently looking for a campsite to stay at preferably around the mid-Wales/west Wales area.
We are planning on going for 3 nights for a midweek stay at the end of May with 2 adults and one 11 year old son.

Our requirements really are EHU is a must and we'd ideally like to be close to a beach and/or within reasonable walking distance from a Pub and shops.

We have stayed for the last two years at a great campsite just north from Barmouth http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2515.

We are looking at something similar to this campsite but want to try out a different area, possibly Aberystwyth and we might even be prepared to travel as far down as Cardigan Bay for the right site.

Any suggestions or replies would be greatly appreciated!

Pembrokeshire is better imo than all those areas. We have a caravan and use CLs, but there is a site called Creampots about a mile and a half from Broad Haven which I think is well rated. We have also used a CS called Skerrylake near Haverfordwest, a bit basic and a lot sloping (although there is a flat area at the top), was cheap when we were there, has facilites and ehu. Further to get to the coast, but handy for the town. Neither site is within walking distance of a pub or shops though.

Not many sites walking distance to a pub and beach in ceredigion altho there are a few larger sites that would meet your needs maybe greenfields at pentregat or there are several around Aberaeron. .. good luck!

Hi thanks for the replies so far.

has anyone stayed at either of these two sites?
These are a couple that are under consideration at the moment. I'm working my way through many reviews and have a bit more of an idea now.

Although im wondering if the Devils bridge site is a bit isolated?

I wrote a fairly lengthy reply yesterday recommending Devil's Bridge but I don't know where it's gone .

You have the gorge itself and the narrow gauge railway on the doorstep, a lovely site and a pub within walking distance.

The Rising Sun is ok for a few nights. Its in the grounds of a pub (same name) and you are with 15 minutes drive at the most of 4/5 great beaches.

The facilities on site are not the best but for a few nights they are ok.
