Has anyone used the email/ enquiry link on the camp site searches? I've emailed a few over the past few days and not had a reply from any,I understand these people are busy but would have thought email bookings were the way to go !

Many sites are slow to respond at any time of year, especially as they will still be on reduced staff at the moment.

You can follow up with a call and ask if they got the email.
Kind of defeats the purpose I know, but i too sense the frustration you feel when the reply isn't almost instant.

Very hit and miss, some are good at replying and others don't bother to. I don't know why they have an email address if they don't intend to reply. It certainly puts me off some sites.

Personally this ticks me off. If they don't have the staff or inclination to respond then why publish an email contact?

If I email a company I would expect a reply within 48 hours, if they don't reply I go elsewhere

Not everyone is computer savvy, even in this day and age, and some sites still rely on old fashion phone call for enquiries and bookings.

I personally prefer to booking via an online form or e-mail, and if a site does not allow me to do so, then it is unlikely for me to be interested in staying with them.

I have made enquiries for sites using the e-mail function via UKCS before, and it was a hit and miss with regard to replying to e-mails. If they did not respond via e-mail, or insisted that I rang them to book, then I would give them a miss.

Just my personal preferences.

I have only ever sent one enquiry via UK Campsite to a campsite which was in May last year trying to book a pitch for a week. It took nearly a week for the woman (site owner) to respond but she was lucky as I was just about to book an alternative site to which I told her. She said she only checks her e-mails once a week but it's not much of an advantage for potential customers for those who want to book a couple of days in advance especially if it's for a two week stay as site owners could lose a lot of revenue for being too long winded at replying.
This year I will telephone a campsite direct and speak to somebody in person rather than send an enquiry by e-mail.

Prefer the quickness of a phone call myself when wanting to book, too impatient to wait for reply of e mails, as like you say, site are sometimes hit and miss with replies.

I prefer to have written confirmation of my booking rather than to rely on verbal confirmation over the phone, a case of "if it was not written down, then it did not happen", which is how I operate for my line of work.

I do not fancy arriving on a site to be told my reservation cannot be found, and the person who booked me in is nowhere to be seen.

Granted, however, I would have documented evidence that they made the mistake, and not me.

With a phone call, there would be no documented evidence, just their words against mine if a mistake had been made.
