In North Wales you have the following which would fit
Llyn Rhys Campsite
3 areas one on the Drive Way, is used for Offa's Dyke walkers, as the LDP runs through the farm property, so is a good stopping point. Christine is extremely friendly and helpful. The Second field is where all the Hook Ups are, the 3rd field, is for Non Hook Up.
Rynys Farm Camping Siteanother farm based Camp Site, plenty of room, in the larger field, you could all pitch together in the corner area, and still have room to swing a elephant. Conway Falls cafe, is just across the main road from the Drive Way up to the Camp Site, Customers of the cafe, have free access to the Swallow Falls, which includes a 1 million pound Fish Ladder.
Carrog Station Camp Site is right next to Carrog Train Station, which is a stop on the Llangollen Steam Railway, which now continues on to Corwen. For this one, ask to be put in the small field, where the Glamping Pods are.
I'm a member of a Committee, who has hired the Rally Field across the road from the main site, for 10 days August 2016.
I've stopped at all 3, with a mixed group of Caravans, Motor Homes, Tents and a FC. All 3 are accessible via main roads Carrog advice the best route to the site on their web site, and to avoid following Sat Navs, which bring you in the opposite way, on narrow roads]

Bridge House Campsite at Lechlade in Gloucestershire might suit you. Easy access, one large field with EHU and non-EHU pitches, 10 minutes walk into Lechlade and nice walks and pubs along The Thames. Riverside Park immediately opposite with plenty of room for picnic, ball games etc.
See their website for more details.

Davep mentioned Rynys. I love it dearly, but if your Dad is nervous of towing, be aware there's a short but steep narrow lane up to it. Don't let that put you off; once you're up there and settled, you'll have lovely views on an informal and well-kept site with clean facilities and lots of scramble-potential for the children.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!

Fforest fields is ideal - it very well set out so no rows of caravans- lovely shallow streams- we met family there.
