Hi, There are 3 main sites on Arran, plus another more basic site.

For views, either seal sands or Lochgranza. Seal Sands lovely views over Pladda and Alisa Craig and easy access to probably the best beach on the Island.

Lochranza is in very north and surrounded by high hills, so sometimes weather not so good.
Good local facilities and views across to Kintyre. Golf course next to site.

For facilities, the site at Cordon is best as its a 10 minute walk to Lamlash, the second biggest village on the island with Co-ops, a few pubs and resturants.

The final site at Glenrosa has fantastic views along the valley, but the facilites are very basic with no showers, hot water etc.

I have been visiting the island for over 40 years and there are lots of places to visit and things to do. If you need any more info, please let me know.

Hi
Many thanks for your reply it's much appreciated.

We have decided on seal sands and have booked this morning that one is next to beach so it's ideal for us.

Never been to Isle of Arran so looking forward to it and touring round for four days we are their.

Thanks x

I don't think it will take 4 days to get round Arran!
If you have time, take a trip as far as Largs. Lovely seaside town and great ice cream from Nardinis.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

There''s a thread called "Lochranza, Isle of Arran" on a later page in this forum. Worth checking.

PS, there's plenty for a full week - that's why several friends go there self catering every year - loads of walks on the flat (coastal path right round) and uphill (if you're equipped - go up Goat Fell from Corrie, come down through Brodick Castle grounds, finish with venison & real ale at the Ormidale in Brodick), there's a food trail (brewery, distillery, cheese, chocolatier), golf, bird watching (hen harriers, a pair of golden eagles, gannets diving - and you might see a basking shark), Machrie Moor stone circles, the cave where Bruce watched the spider, passenger ferry over to Holy Isle, car ferry over to Kintyre for the day, deer watching when you visit Lochranza's ruined castle, Paddle Steamer Waverly may be visiting or passing by, swimming pool at Blackwaterfoot and the Auchrannie, Arran Aromatics, bike hire, helicopter trips, RIB trips, dark dark skies. If it's raining on one side of the island, go to the other side as it'll probably be dry.
Nothing against Largs, visit it often en route to the Big Cumbrae ferry, it's very like Brodick (both have a beach) but with marginally better ice cream & high teas at Nardini's. But Brodick has Wooleys who make exceedingly good oatcakes which go well with the locally made cheese & beer. And a lot less traffic, and free parking.
