I've been looking for a campsite within a short distance to St Ives, we are 2 adults, 2 children & a dog wanting a pitch with electric for next July. I can't believe how expensive they are per night! A campsite that I really like the look of is £59 a night😱. We went to Padstow last year and we stayed at Padstow touring park which is 5 star, we didn't pay anything near that! I'm not interested in the campsites that have entertainment, we just want a pitch with good facilities I.e. Toilet block...... We are willing to pay upto £40pn. Having never been to St Ives has anyone got any recommendations??? Thanks

We are going to Wheal Rodney this year, not been before but if looks like a nice quiet little site and the staff have been most helpful when booking, it gets great reviews as well.
It s on the south coast at Marazion (St Michaels Mount) which is only about 7 miles from St Ives. It's a small site that takes dogs and also benefits from its own indoor swimming pool. Big draw for us though is that there isn't any on site bars or entertainment!
------------- May 2015 - Arrow Bank 4 nights
July 2015 - Manorafon 4 nights
August 2015 - Piccadilly Caravan park 3 nights
August 2015 - Wheal Rodney 11 nights
Well we've decided to book Gwithian farm campsite! All the reviews sound great! Anyone been? How did you visit St Ives from here I.e. Bus, walk, car. Where else did you visit from this site? Is there a cycle path for long bike rides! Have they got places to eat & drink at the local beach? Thanks

We were there couple years ago, it was okay my only gripe was everyone was packed in like sardines which I didn't like but otherwise it was okay.

Parking in St Ives is easy, if you get up early and head for the leisure centre car park 750 spaces with overflow when needed, its at the top of town and you get the bus into town takes about 4 mins and costd £2 each.
or you could walk, take 5 mins or so and is downhill and get the bus back.
If you can do this by early its well worth doing
Dont be put off, yes it can get croweded but be early and enjoy yourself.
You will also find the main attraction of st Ives is the surrounding area the beaches at hayle and other areas are fantastic.
We've been to gwithian for the past five years, we always go into St Ives for a day, but always park and get the train, we did drive into town once...never again. Yes it's busy in St Ives, but it's a superb place, oh and gwithian beach is also one of the best you'll find. Gaz

We always park in the residential streets of Carbis Bay for free and walk along the coastal path. It's pathed, so good for pushchairs and you get the most spectacular view of St Ives. Takes about 1/2 hour.
