We are stopping at the C&C Club Theobolds Park site for a weekend to visit the Olympic Park for the Anniversary Athletics games on 24th - 26th July. We thought then that we might shoot off to Suffolk and Norfolk for a week or 10 days which is the only area in the country we haven't been too. A friend has suggested we visit Aldeburgh so we are thinking of a few days at the Caravan Club sites at Lowestoft and then Sandringham subject to availability. We would be grateful for any "must do" suggestions or alternative sites.

I would go a bit further south than Lowestoft. Lowestoft really isn't a particularly nice town any more but Southwold, Aldborough and Orford down the coast are all lovely. Personally I'd pop in to Orford and Framlingham Castles and Snape Maltings in that area.
It is worth visiting Sandringham House, you don't get to see very much inside the house but the grounds are nice and you can also visit the church. I also really like Castle Rising and Castle Acre (can you spot a theme?).
You MUST visit Morston Quay and take a seal trip to Blakeney Point. YOU MUST!

Deeds Glade is a lovely site, really handy for exploring Norfolk. Would also recommend a trip to Blakeney point, a Wells next the Sea and a trip on the Poppy Line. Lots of good NTt sites too.
We've always used clippesby hall and been more than happy, but it is getting quite pricey. So this time we're trying a new site, west runton, hope it's good. Gaz.

Leiston traction engine museum. Adnams Brewery, Southwold. (You'd expect that one), Long Melford church and others, Constable country.
A few Suffolk highlights!

If you get to Aldeborough drive a mile or so northwards along past the beach to the village of Thorpeness - there's a shallow boating lake which has Peter Pan-themed islands and creeks to explore, horse drawn carriage rides round the village, a nice restaurant and a lakeside cafe. Look out for the 'house in the clouds' and the coloured houses along the beach. It's a very quaint, unusual and pretty village and well worth a visit.
Have a look at my blog archives from September 6th 2012 and September 4th 2013 for pics of Thorpeness, Aldeborough and nearby Snape Maltings, might give you some ideas.
