Can't help, as it's a pity you can't stretch to Edinburgh e.g. Mortonhall, and get a bus into town for the Hogmanay celebrations. But that's 4 hours, probably. Or Crieff, where the Braidhaugh site has what I read is a good party (and it's a lovely part of Scotland). Another year, maybe...
