Hi can anyone recommend any good campsites in the lake district? ideally we love to camp next to water with nice views and other half likes to fish, we have 2 boys 6 and 10 so a play park would be nice but not essential, we have a week of work in 2 weeks time and we are looking to camp hopefully in the lake district as its somewhere we have always wanted to visit, we have camped many times locally but this will be our first proper camping holiday :) Im feeling under pressure as I dont want to get it wrong any input would be greatly appreciated thankyou :) im sorry if this has been covered elsewhere have done a search and couldn't find anything, thanks x

My 8 year old granddaughter and I had a fantastic week at the C&CC club site in Keswick in May. It is beside Derwentwater, has a small play park and the views are to die for. Not sure about the availability of fishing. It's a few minutes walk into town and to a supermarket. Showers and toilets are clean and plentiful. I know C&CC sites aren't to everyone's taste but for me it was perfect. However I would imagine that there is limited availability now for the school holidays.
My lad and his wife just had a weekend there. Perfect position for the lake and keswick shops. His only complaint was the geese and ducks around his tent.

We've been to Parkfoot at Ullswater a few times, just got back today http://www.parkfootullswater.co.uk they have a field down by the lake as well as its of other pitches. It's a bit noisey at night and there are a lot of larger families that use the place, if this doesn't both you then it's a canny site. There's just the 2 of us and our 5 year old so the noise and some of the colourful language was a bit much lol
