Does anyone know if the trains from the Station Campsite in Carrog goes to Llangollen? Also have any of you lovely people been to this site? Any good??

Can't advise on the site itself but the trains do go to Llangollen - however it is a preserved line so services can be variable depending on the season etc. Best to check on Llangollen Railway website for times etc.

Steam trains - 11.50, 14.10, 16.20

Heritage railcar (diesel multiple unit) - 10.53, 12.10, 13.00, 14.10, 15.10, 16.10, 17.10

Very limited service after Oct.4th

Station Camp Site is lovely and one of my favourites; if you want a nice meal try the Grouse Inn down the lane and across the river

Don't know anything about the campsite or the trains, but can vouch for the Grouse, a good old traditional pub, with great views.

We stayed there a couple of weeks back for 2 nights, they have two fields, one with hard standings and hook ups and another larger field with some hook ups and a huge field with no defined pitches so you can go where you like. The railway line (which does go to Llangollen) is right next to the field and the other side of the field is bordered by the Wye river.

The facilities looked a bit basic (we use our own) but the price is good and the location is lovely.

We enjoyed our trip on the steam train too
