Evening Campers,
I am organising a dads and kids camping weekend for thr end of Sept and was just after some sight reconsiderations. We are coming from the Stockport area and want something up to say 1 1/2 hours away. It must allow camp fires and there are a few of us going so a fairly lively site would be better. Near water, mountains a pub would be great - but not essential. Any advise would be greatly received. Many Thanks

Have you tried a Map Search? That page brings up a possibly suitable site near Betws-y-Coed for example, amongst others, but you could search for Peak District or Yorkshire Dales sites using similar criteria.
We stayed at Hebden Bridge camping last week. Teeny site, basic ameniites, on a slope, but lovely. Great views, pub on site - the loos are next to the pub, they provide fire drums for free & you buy their bags of fire wood.
There are loads of walks nearby, including one across the road that leads into Hebden Bridge, that follows the stream / river valley & there are footpaths down to the water. If you mean water views, this hasn't. No mountains, but plenty of hills :-)
