Was hoping of taking my motorhome to the Isle of Man TT next year its 7.5m long but cant find any ferry company that can take that length of van. Would welcome any help with camp sites also.

we took our van a few years ago, once we had booked a campsite we then had to apply for the permit, about £12 for up to 2 weeks maximum use. We just faxed a form and they faxed back a permit.
We sailed with Isle of Man Steam Packet, plenty of vehicles on there longer than 7m, believe if you are over 6.5 metres you have to book as freight. Prices whether freight or not are high, we have been twice but the ferry prices put us off doing it again.
Have used Glen Lough Campsite, we thought it was great. We were not there for TT week though and believe its very busy then so maybe you need to book.
HI what Dot P says is correct - if you want to bring a long vehicle (over 6.5 m) you will have to phone and speak to the booking office (01624 661661) as it will usually need to be booked as freight and you cant do it on line via the website. It may also be cheaper if you can afford to come over for longer ie the week before practice week and leave the week after TT week.
Also you do not need a permit for a motorhome only for a towed caravan.
regarding campsites have a look at either PEEL or GLEN WHYLLIN if you want to be able to get around when the roads are closed due to the races otherwise Silly Moos, Glen Lough, also if you look on the IOM government website there will be campsite details for many of the 'pop up' campsite which most football/rugby clubs run during this period (these are good as they usual have the clubhouse facilities bar etc open for all to use.
Just a question are you intending on using your camper on the roads whilst you are here or are you going to rely on the buses ? I wouldn't like to be using a 7metre vehicle on the roads during TT as you will probably end up with a bike joining you in the motor home, they come at you from all angles and on both sides -its bad enough in my small matiz where they have room to dip back in when needed I cant imagine what would happen with a large long vehicle!!
I live on the IOM so any other questions let me know and I will try to help.

If there are any bookings with Steam Packet still available you will have to pay a non returnable deposit and the sailings are confirmed and to be paid for January next year,Then the bookings not paid for are released.
You may have a chance for mid week bookings.
Hi thank you for all the reply's it all sounds a bit of nightmare. I think its a No No as far as taking the van over. Its 50 year since I was last over and it was wild enough then also as me123 says I more than likely end up with more than two bikes on the bike rack.
