I use the caravan and camping club and wish they had a search by price feature. Can anyone recommend any good sites - especially Somerset/Yorkshire/Lake District that have sites for around £12-£15 per unit, including hook up. I am not bothered about facilities as have own shower/toilet in caravan so only need a basic site with toilet disposal, electric hook up and drinking water. Also, anyone tried running from a generator for electric? Trying to work out if cheaper to get either a petrol generator or a silent generator that runs from my LPG bottles than pay for electric hook up. Want to get my site fees to as low as possible so I have more money to travel around.

You can safely assume that the cheapest CCC sites are their Certificated Sites (CSs) and you can do a UKCS map search for those - click on the CS/CL tab, EHU and anything else you need, and you'll find plenty. However, you may pay more for location - the Lake District is more expensive than, say, a CS in Fife with all you need (and more) for about £10.
Not used a generator, just been highly irritated by neighbours running them - not 'heard' a silent one yet, and many sites won't allow them overnight when you might want your heating on, or to use mains lighting. And you need to factor your gas cost against your EHU cost, and how many saved EHUs it takes to pay back the generator.

If you have the paper version of Your Big Sites Book* it should include a leaflet which, on its Symbols and abbreviations page, lists "CS and LS fee bands" which will give a rough idea from the code letter(s) in the individual site entry.
*No idea where that information can be found online, though!
Thornhills Farm at Othery near Bridgwater in Somerset is lovely, think it's a CS, now has loos and showers apprently, since we went there, one of the best sites we have been to.
Laverick Hall at Halton near Lancaster used to be a CL ,now a commercial site but still £15 per night I think, another one to to recommend. Lovely views over to the Lake District mountains.

Highfield House, Flockton, Yorkshire. Small (14 pitches) basic site has toilets, showers, washing up sink, EHU and chemical disposal. Pitch including electric is £15 a night
