We are looking at going to York Christmas market from 6th-8th December and are looking for a site nearby for our tourer.
Preferably not too expensive, but we would need hook up and a shower/toilet block as our shower doesn't work and our (when we go) 14 week old will need plenty of electricity for making bottles and keeping warm.
Any advice appreciated, ideally within around 5 miles of York. If further afield I would rather be north or west as we are coming down the A1.
Cheers

We did check that one but it was going to be over £50 for 2 nights which we couldn't justify unfortunately as we have never paid more than £16 per night for a pitch previously for electric with either our tent or in the caravan.
Not sure about the standard of loos and showers - he said they were building a new block this year and we haven't been since last year. Very close to York park and ride at the Designer Outlet A64.

Just an idea but Boroughbridge c&cc site is a half hour drive from york and the park and ride at poppleton.
Nice town with good takeaways. Pub up the road. You could also visit harrogate, Ripon or knaresborough only 20 min drive. There is a good cs site, cherry tree farm but no toilet block at all. It gets very busy in York at Christmas.
Willow House is just outside York £20.00 per night Also attached to the same site is Willow House CL site £16.00 a night if you are a Caravan Club member. We stayed on there a couple of years ago and are booked to go on 18th and 19th Dec. There is a bus stop at the entrance of the site which takes you into the centre of York.
You can try Rowntree Park but they are always booked up, we've got on there on a few occasions but had to book way in advance or rely on a last minute cancelation.

Sutton in the Forest - a CS, honesty box payment. It'll be in your budget. Just take an envelope & cash as I don't know how much it is (but not a lot, relatively).
When our daughter was at York Uni, we used to stay a 'Bleak House farm' in Heslington. Cheap, basic, but you can walk into the city. It's still listed in the CC site and open till 31st. Dec.
It's a few years ago now, but we never had trouble getting into Rowntree park. Things must have changed.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
manor farm at middlethorpe is a good site, adults only, just down the road from the racecoarse, on the opposite side of the road, easy walk into York,£19 a night with 16 amp, you can find info and reviews on here
Hi, we stayed at wagtail park, lovely little site, good shower block, cheap too...I'm not sure how far outside of York it is though, we went for a family wedding.
The postcode is yo32 9su so you could work it out.
Thanks for letting us all know the outcome. It's frustrating when lots of folk try to help & we never know how it all ended. Let us know how you get on! And you could post your first site review too....
