Those ball launchers are a pain in the rump on our local park. Not only do the people using them take up half the open space because they sling the ball for hundreds of yards while their (sometimes huge and numerous) dogs go belting after it, but my dog wants to belt after it as well so starts pulling on the lead.

At one time people were content to toss a ball a few yards and get their dogs to bring it back. Nowadays walking across the park is like standing in front of a tennis ball launcher gone berserk...and in many cases the owners have to go and get the balls themselves because having chased the ball their dogs just sit there with it waiting for it to be relaunched again.

I am all for people (and dogs) having a good time but I get very hot under the collar when an individual's good time invades my space and peace, whether it is loud fireworks in neighbours gardens or packs of dogs running across my path chasing a ball that has just zinged past my ear at 100mph.

I live 20 yds from a large park and our dog is walked there 3-4 times everyday. I keep her on the lead as she would run up to greet people with there dogs and a lot of people/dogs do not like it, myself included. My dog has been attacked a couple of times whilst on the lead by dogs off the lead, some owners have screamed at there dog to stop or come back to no avail and some don't even bother and let their dog run wild!

I had an agrument with an owner the other day for this very reason. His dog was off the lead and I could see it running towards us from 20yds ori



so away and the owner did nothing. It had a go at my dog and I had to lift my dog up rather than give the other dog a swift boot!!! I am an animal

i too have a border terrier. Mine is only 15 months old. She hasnt a nasty bone in her body. Like yours she has to be kept on a lead in public places as wants everyone to fuss her! She loves everyone and everything!
The last time cost me £200 in vet bills.

We had some words and he spent the time asking why my dog "had" to be on a lead???
Obviously an idiot who should not be allowed to have a pet.

My dog is a 6 year old Border Terrier who is a really sociable character with other dogs and loves childen as she has been well socialised from a puppy.

I have said on here before, I wish I had a pound for everytime I have heard an owner who's dog was off the lead say.. "Oh! he's never done that before" after having a go at some poor dog!

As I say not all dogs are like this when off the lead but they are on the increase in my experience of having/being around dogs for 50+ years.

I take my dog to quieter areas and also use the beach at times when it is likely to be less busy and let her off the lead for a good run, I don't find that a problem.

Children and dogs..you have to take responsibility for their actions!!
