To me the whole point of having a motorhome is to tour - sometimes wild park sometimes stay on sights. We're not walkers we just want to stay somewhere within walking distance of a small town/village, mooch, explore, buy local produce or eat out. Really easy to do travelling around Europe but virtually impossible in England without booking for either 3 or 5 nights! We both work so going anywhere for a night or two( especially the lake district - only 2 hours away from us)is nigh on impossible. If anyone knows of anywhere - help please!?

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
The 3 or 5 nights normally only applies when booking in advance during peak periods.
If you turn up without booking they will usually fit you in somewhere and if not there are literally hundreds of other sites in the Lake District, so you not have to travel far to find a pitch on another site.
We've enjoyed MH-ing for more than 10 years (tented the previous 20). We stay a night or two or three, usually we don't book except when we really must stay in a certain place as we're en route to a particular destination. The only sites that have required a minimum number of nights have been CCC sites over holiday periods like Easter. As we don't limit ourselves to Club sites, it's never been a problem. We find the Certificated Sites are rarely full, if you're a wild camper you won't mind if there's no shower (though many have great facilities).
If you are members of either club, try CLs/CSs (small sites owned by individuals affiliated to the respective clubs). We use them all the time. They don't all have loos/showers, but some do, if you need them. We are going to one in Pembrokeshire over Christmas/New Year which is £9 per night and has a loo and washbasin, and ehu of course.
You don't say where you are, up north somewhere. There is a lovely site near Halton (Lancaster), Laverick Hall which used to be a CL but is now independent, still £15 I think, with loos, a shower and great views.
We're near York only about an hour or 2 from the Dales, the coast or the Lakes, as I said earlier, we both work so often just go off for a night somewhere - that's the joy of motorhoming isn't it. Thank you for all you help, much appreciated.
