Hi everyone
I know the above is a popular site with family campers, can anyone who knows the site recommend the best field to book into to avoid being under trees, ideally as open as possible. Like the look of the site other than the prospect of our tent becoming a wood pigeons toilet!!

We visited Clippesby many years ago at Easter when we started camping.Its this site that made us get a 4x4 as after it rained it turned into a bog and you could only drive downhill some of the fields.I seem to remember most of the site has trees but there was room to pitch in the middle of one area and one of the others was surrounded by them and was very dark and damp.At the time most people only stayed for the main Easter days and most of the site shut down for the rest of the week.
The placed felt deserted.The toilets were cold and draughty and not very nice.
I hope they have updated the site and you have a lovely time because we didn't and will never return.
The idiot that greeted us while putting our tent up after we had kicked someone off our pitch found we were from Yorkshire and shouted we were Yorkshire Puddings to his wife back in her tent which was not a good start.
Kept a wide berth from them all week.

I've never stayed there but the reviews give the site an average of 9/10. The Tent reviews often name which field they were in, I think a few minutes reading just those Tent reviews would suggest fields to avoid (shady etc) and at least one that sounds ok (cedar, I think).

Be aware that Clippesby Hall is virtually in the middle of nowhere so there's no nearby shops, but there's a good store - Latham's - five miles away at Potter Heigham for any supplies you might need. There's a nice cafe in the store too, and if you like cream cakes then I can highly recommend their cream-filled Belgian buns

This site is one of our favourites, the staff are wonderful, the toilet blocks are well kept and the pitches are spacious, unlike many other sites they do not allow pitching the the middle of the field, just around the edges, which means you are not overcrowded and overlooked.
There are big supermarkets at Stalham and Acle which are within easy driving distance and a very good fish and chip shop in Martham. The site shop in small but well stocked and cafe and onsite pub both offer lovely food.
There are good cycle routes along quiet country lanes directly from the site and plenty to do within the area if you want to venture off site.

Cedar lawn is the best,shop on site very expensive and watch the pheasants.

thanks both for the tips, I did see a few photos with peacocks on somewhere, will certainly keep an eye out for them wandering into the awning! A direct strike from one of them would leave me wondering why I was worried about pigeon poop! :)
