We usually take our caravan to France in the summer but for various reasons we are staying in this country this year. We often have short breaks here and usually use a mix of cc and commercial sites.
We have a week booked at the cc site in Looe, Cornwall but I am struggling to find a second site for about five nights after that.
We're looking for a site with a few things for young teens to do- eg sports pitch, pool, crazy golf, games room, table tennis etc. A takeaway or reasonably priced restaurant would be good as well as a small shop for essentials. Not too bothered if there's a bar or not.
Location wise Dorset, Somerset, south Gloucestershire, or Monmouthshire, since all of these are pretty much on our way home.
All the sites with the facilities that we'd like have some poor reviews often complaining about pitches being too small and close together, or poor wash facilities, or a lot of noise at night; all of which I'd like to avoid.
If anyone has any helpful suggestions it would be much appreciated.
I really feel like maybe I'm just too fussy!

Unfortunately all the things you seek on a site usually results in the type of problems you outline. Better to seek a site with reduced entertainment facilities and for you to travel off site to seek the entertainment you want.
Good luck in your search but doubt you can find a site providing what you need in the way of facilities without the disadvantages you list.
Just be more flexible in your search.

As you are members of CC have you looked at centre rallies/holidays? Some of them are on full facility sites but in the rally field so better spacing between pitches etc

Thank you both.
I'm now looking at other cc sites. Possibly Rookesbury Park near Portsmouth. A little out of our way, but being near both Portsmouth and Southampton we should be able to find plenty to do in the area.
Had not thought about centre rallies. Will definitely take a look at them.

Rookesbury is a very pleasant site but you will have to go offsite for activities. What dates are you going?

Wareham Forest, Dorset fits most of your criteria. Lovely swimming pool and games room and direct access to the forst for cycling/walking. Well stocked little shop but no restaurant or bar (though I think a Takeaway Van may visit high season). We've stayed there a few times and very quiet in the evenings/overnight. Great local area with tons to do.

Looking at first week in August.
We've stayed at the cc site in Wareham quite a few years ago and loved the area.
Will have a look at Wareham forest site, thanks.

Yes definitely worth a look. Very well kept and maintained site, good clean facilities and very spacious feel.
