Ever been out & about in a caravan or tent & had a stroll into a small town or village in the evening to have a drink/meal & plan the following day's activities only to find there's a band playing, whether it be folk, rock covers, blues or just one person with guitar singing it turns out to be a cracking night.
We find a lot of the places we visit for mainly weekends away with the caravan seem to lack live local music, unless we specifically plan it around an event. There must be lots of places preferably within walking distance of a campsite or CL but it's difficult trying to find them. Due to our location in Blackpool we tend to have our long weekends not to far away typically the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales & the Ribble Valley. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I believe that Hellifield House Social Club has, between Settle and Skipton and also has a small basic caravan site. You could try phoning them in the evening if you are interested, I emailed them some time ago but no reply.
Re Hellifield house SC I'll bear that in mind & might have a look in a few weeks as we are in that area then. I've flicked through the Pubs with Campsites section on UKCampsite & found a couple of potential candidates, but most of their websites just tell you they sell food or accommodation. Best I've found up to now are Sun Inn at Hawkshead they had a mini music fest last year but as of yet no info. There of course are the Dentdale music & beer fest end of June, Colne blues August Bank hol w/e & Lancaster music fest 13-17th Oct I'm booked for these already. But it would be good find a few more just somewhere to bob in Fri/Sat night Pub venues to add to the list. There must be loads but they don't seem to put it online for some reason.
Would you let us know what Hellifield SC and site are like please? as it's on here and their website as a CS but not on the Camping and Caravanning club website, nor in the club book, so a bit of a mystery. We don't mind basic sites, must have ehu which it does, and be easy of access, level and open to the south.

Lemonrock is a good website for checking live music pubs in a given area ... can then relate back to campsites in same area.
Lots and lots of small festivals around the country. We shall be going one in Woodbury in July and camping just outside the village. Only a few miles up the road for us but worth it to enjoy the music and beer without having to drive! http://www.forcecancercharity.co.uk/event/woodbury-stock-2016/
This has a campsite and has some great bands on in the barn of the pub, it's on my list to visit

You could try http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=117 pubs with campsites and see on the pubs website if they run music events

Being a solo camper I find plenty to do during the day but the evenings can sometimes be a little boring, although I usually go out for a meal then a chinwag at the bar with any locals who want to chat and usually have a good night.
I too search out any bars that might be having live music and enjoy watching and listening to musicians.
Unfortunately, one of the downsides of camping midweek is that most of the entertainment is at weekends so finding something 'on' midweek is rare.
One place I went to some years ago that seemed to have music in every bar was Cheddar in Somerset.

That's where I live, and yes we like our music. The Kings Head pub has now reopened after being shut and complete refurb. Will have music about once a fortnight.
There's also the Early Doors Cider Barn on the Draycott Road just outside of Cheddar that has lots of music events on.

We base our camping outings on places with live music. We could give you a list but these are all in the south of England.
For example where we live, Glastonbury in Somerset, has several places that put on live music, with often a choice of 3 or more) and a campsite in walking distance. Having been involved in live music for many years it was one of the reasons we moved here). A similar place in the north would be Hebden Bridge but sadly it seems that the campsite there has now closed.
You do need to do a bit of homework though. When we are going somewhere new we google 'what's on in X' or similar or use local/countrywide gig guides. We then look to see if there is a campsite.
I'd agree that Lemonrock is a good place to start or try Noth West Gig Guide, Gig Listings in the UK. None are complete as many local venues only advertise locally but they are a start.

We go to wirrall caravan club site quite often. At the end of the lane is a social club open at the weekend which you are welcome to visit. They have some good acts on a Saturday night mainly on the bank hol weekends.
Thanks for the links & suggestions keep them coming & I will post anything I find in the future. some good stuff on some of the links & I have saved them all for future trips. We are booked to go to Padstow via Cheltenham first couple of weeks in July so I'll be doing a bit more research before that one. For anyone who's interested I live in Blackpool Lanc's & there's a couple of campsites depending what you want, music scene is ok pubs etc. Best site for non car use is Hampton Rd (was railway club) it expanded to include caravans a few years ago in a great central location in town 5 minutes walk from the Prom.
