Just tried to book a couple of days away with two adult concessions and 4 year old grandson.
Ridiculous prices from C&cc AT Graffham. No other facilities than toilet, shower. £21 per night for "grass" pitch , no EHU. (June 1st for 2 nights)
Are they pricing themselves out of the market or keeping up with the ridiculously expensive private sites with club house etc.
B&B might be a better bet

I ditched C&CC membership a couple of years back as I failed to see the benefits. Unless you use CS' what's the point?

Their DA rallies and THS make membership for us worth every penny.
Can't remember when or even the year we last used their main sites!

Agree about the THSs and couldn't remember the last time we used a Club Site, but apparently it was Slindon (one of their two? Own San Ess sites (NT restriction)) in April 2011 and cost less than £10.

Same here as we used to go to a couple of their main sites on the offers they once had which were 5 nights for the price of 4 and 7 nights for the price of five. Once they were ditched we tried a couple of CS's but one was tatty and the other added the price for an awning etc. so we dropped out the club as we could no longer see the benefit either.

I guess for many they are still competitive, for us £21 isn't that much different than many commercial or larger sites.

The benefit for us is both clubs often have sites in places we want to stay, therefore a few £ extra is worth it rather than save £4 / £5 and be further away from where we want to be.

Agree prices are getting more expensive but we look at it that often the extra is less than the cost of a good cup of coffee.

We only use CLs/CSs, not THSs as we need ehu and don't like crowds. Many of the small sites are excellent. What's not to like about £13-14 per night with a loo and shower?

The local paper reports that holiday visitor numbers have increased because of ditching flying to holiday destinations in the present worrying climate. The number of caravans pouring into the West Country over Easter on the M5 and A361 was markedly increased over previous years, and it will probably be the same in the summer.

More people are embracing camping and caravanning, therefore more demand for sites and pitches, more demand = higher prices for pitching.

We have camped, caravaned and now FC for over 40yrs, love it. But increasingly turning to CS, CL and small independent sites to find
the peace and simplicity we like.

I think £21 is perfectly reasonable

I thought the THS and CS sites were usually not in places most would want to go, certainly the cheaper club sites. In my experience, using Scarborough as a illustration, it wasn't any cheaper than any other site of it's type. Nothing wrong with it though. But when we tried to book, being a member was no help. It was the run up to a Bank Holiday, they had us ringing every day to see if there was a space available or not. It was no cheaper and they had minimum stay duration policies as well (how you get on in the club if you're a tourer moving frequently I don't know). So, I saw no benefit from that point of view.
Secondly, it's known as "The Friendly Club". This I don't get as the club's call handlers and Admins weren't in my experience. I have to say I found a fair few members to be surly and rude too.
The only thing I quite liked was the magazine and after an on-line renewal one year it stopped coming, so that was it. Cancelled my membership and haven't missed it at all.
